Final repeat turns ruthless as Bordeaux hit fifty against Northampton
Champions Cup holders Bordeaux-Bègles delivered a statement performance, dismantling Northampton Saints 50–28 in a reprise of last season’s decider. The French champions crossed eight times in a display marked by pace, power and clinical finishing, exposing defensive frailties despite Northampton already having secured progression to the round of 16.
The match ignited early. Fiji full-back Salesi Rayasi opened the scoring before Henry Pollock responded in the 10th minute, silencing a hostile crowd with a composed finish. Ill-discipline then hurt the visitors, multiple sin-bins tilting momentum firmly towards Bordeaux. By half-time the holders led 24–7, and Rayasi’s treble was completed soon after the interval.
Forward Cameron Woki matched Rayasi with his own hat-trick, adding tries in the 38th, 50th and 52nd minutes, while Martin Page-Relo nipped through for a sharp score and Matthieu Jalibert raced clear to reach the half-century mark. Northampton showed character late on: Tommy Freeman finished well, and Pollock grabbed a second before Danilo Fischetti stretched over to secure a valuable bonus point. Saints remain third in their pool but were comprehensively outgunned.
Harlequins hammer Stormers to clinch knockout place
Harlequins rediscovered fluency in spectacular fashion, sweeping aside previously unbeaten Stormers 61–10 to confirm a knockout berth with a round to spare. With Marcus Smith orchestrating and Tyrone Green incisive from deep, Quins ran in nine tries.
Nick David claimed a hat-trick, while Jack Kenningham, Cadan Murley, Alex Dombrandt, Chandler Cunningham-South, Zach Carr and Jarrod Evans also crossed. Stormers, without a host of first-choice players, replied through Imad Khan and Dylan Maart, but never threatened a comeback as the London side dominated territory and tempo.
Saracens seize season-saving win over Toulouse
Saracens reignited their campaign with a gritty 20–14 victory against Toulouse in testing conditions. Two tries from Rotimi Segun and another from Tom Willis provided the decisive cushion as the English side withstood late pressure.
The introduction of senior internationals from the bench added control at a critical juncture, while Willis produced a commanding display despite early treatment. Toulouse rallied with periods of sustained attack but were repeatedly repelled as Saracens closed out a marquee result.
Munster edged at Toulon but pocket losing bonus point
Munster slipped to a narrow 27–25 defeat away to Toulon yet emerged with a potentially crucial losing bonus point. Jack Crowley’s penalties established the early lead before yellow cards disrupted rhythm on both sides.
Toulon struck through Marius Domon, who also added key kicks, while second-half scores from Ben White and Gael Drean extended the hosts’ advantage. Munster responded through Calvin Nash, Jack O’Donoghue and Tom Farrell, briefly moving ahead late on, only for a further Domon penalty inside the final five minutes to swing the result.
